Family Portraits

Boy, family photos aren't what they used to be!  I remember my mom taking us to the portrait studio where my sister and I would be arranged in a darkish room.  I would smile for what seemed like forever while the photographer would work to get Suzanne to smile.  It usually worked shortly after my cheeks had cramped and I no longer had a decent smile left in me.  Now, it involves taking the entire family to the beach and having a photographer direct your kids a bit, but also letting them muck around.  If your lucky, you end up with some fabulous pictures - which we did!

I have been wanting some good pictures done for awhile now.  We had some taken while we were still living in Kentucky, but I wasn't happy with them for several different reasons - the biggest being we wanted a sunset picture and the photographer missed the light!  I'm not sure how she managed that, but seriously!

After doing a bit of research, we picked Capture Imaging to take our family picks.  I'm glad we did - they turned out great!  Liz was our photographer, and she worked so well with our family and kids.  She was very go-with-the-flow of what the kids were doing, while still directing the family into general ideas for shots.

We arrived at Birubi Beach at 9:00 in the morning, in an attempt to avoid the heat and crowd.  It mostly worked, although I believe that was the hottest day we'd had up until that point.  We started out with several group pictures on the beach.

I can't even begin to tell you how much I adore this picture.
Love my boys so much!
Then we were off for some mucking around - very Aussie phrase, no?

I love Will's sandy legs and feet

Run from the surf!

Then we were off to pose on the rocks and dunes.

Nath's face is priceless

This captures the boys personalities perfectly!

How else would one get down from the dunes?

Hey Tyra, here's a textbook schmize!

My sweet boy with his beautiful dimples

My sweet boy with the beautiful eyes

And then we let the kids play in the surf.

Off they go - freedom!!!!

Cheeky boy!

Not actually from the same place, but I'm an equal
opportunity mum - no favourites here!

We had a blast taking these pictures, and boy was it hard to chose which ones to buy - which of course leads to spending more money than planned.  That said, I don't regret the purchase and will love these pictures forever.  Not only do the capture my boys personalities so incredibly well, they're in a place we adore living and will always have incredible memories!

And I'd be remiss if I didn't show you one of my very favourite pictures ever:

Nice to have a picture of just the two of us!

Hey mom, you can have a copy of this one!  Unlike the one from Suz's wedding, I don't appear to be naked! (I was wearing a strapless dress and it was a close-up of the two of us dancing)

And on that note, I promise to soon get a post on our New Year.  I hope your celebration was wonderful and that you and yours have the best year yet!
